Fees
Patients who are pensioners and some health care card holders are bulk-billed for weekday consultations between 8am and 6pm at the surgery. We will ask for the details on your Medicare and health care cards. A discounted fee applies outside these hours.
For other adults a standard visit costs $64.00. Medicare will rebate $35.60 leaving a gap of only $28.40. After 8pm there is a surcharge of about $13 which is almost fully rebated by Medicare so there is a net cost difference of less than two dollars.
Because children are ill very often, and it can be difficult for parents to distinguish serious illnesses from minor ones, we bulk-bill children aged 15 and under for weekday consultations from 8am till 6pm. A discounted fee applies after 6pm weekdays and on weekends and public holidays. A fee applies at all times for procedures such as stitches, plasters, removal of foreign bodies etc.
Different fees apply for very brief visits, more complicated ones and for procedures such as removing moles. A fee list for the commonest items is on display near the front desk.
On weekends, and for home visits or out of hours services and calls, a fee is charged to all patients, though at a reduced rate for pensioners.
If your financial circumstances are such that you cannot afford the gap amount, please discuss the matter with your doctor. We recognise that you may find this embarrassing, but we assure you that we will address the issue sensitively.
PAYMENT
Patients being bulkbilled are asked to present their health care and Medicare cards, and then sign a Medicare form. Other patients are asked to pay their account in full at the time of the consultation.
We accept cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS. We are able to lodge your claim for rebate on your behalf via HIC On-Line. You can then choose to have the rebate sent to you by cheque or have it deposited to your bank account in just 48 hours. Please bring along your banking details (BSB and account number) to enable us to do this for you or advise Medicare of these details via their website (Note if you pay by credit card, you will receive your Medicare refund before payment on your card is due.) If you wish, you can take it into a Medicare office yourself and receive a cash refund on the spot.
We will happily assist you in completing the Medicare claim form to enable you to get your refund as quickly as possible.
