Prior to booking the procedure, we require a 30 minute consultation to assess suitability. We prefer both partners to attend this consultation, as in about one-third of cases we find there is a more appropriate alternative.
Vasectomies are a safe and effective form of sterilisation. Dr David Ringelblum has been performing this procedure for over 30 years and has several families where he has provided the procedure to multiple generations!
If you are interested in discussing vasectomy, please inform reception. We normally require an extended appointment for both partners in a couple (40 minutes in total) to discuss not just vasectomy but all contraceptive options. Unlike vasectomy clinics that only perform one service, we prefer to look at the big picture for the couple and raise issues that may not have been considered when planning contraception and sterilisation.
Following the initial discussion, a vasectomy is booked. The procedure takes about 20 minutes, but we expect the patient to spend about two hours at the clinic before being driven home.
